Visitors to the small Caribbean island of Anguilla will find that the weather is a joy most months out of the year.

Anguilla weather usually guarantees warm sunny days and plenty of time worth spending on the island's white powder beaches.

The island lies just a few miles off the coast of St. Maarten and is much less known than its neighbor.

Visitors won't find much to do on land, but that's OK. Anguilla has some of the best beaches in the Caribbean, and the turquoise ocean adds to its allure.

The following averages come from the St. Maarten international airport, which is located about five miles away, and are based on a 30-year history. They will vary somewhat from year to year.

Warm Temperatures Year Round

Temperatures are consistently warm throughout the year with little change from month to month.
They have an average high of 87 degrees Fahrenheit and an average low (mostly at night) of about 77 degrees.

Anguilla weather in January reaches the coolest point for temperatures with an average high of 83 degrees and an average low of 74.

Weather in July through September reaches the warmest point of the year with an average high each month of 89 degrees and an average low of 79.

Seawater temperatures hover in the middle of the highs and lows, which makes swimming comfortable year round.

Watch Out for the Rain

It's the rain that makes the difference in when to go to Anguilla.

The annual Caribbean hurricane season runs from June through November and reaches a high point of activity in September and October.

Anguilla receives about five inches of rain in September, which is not nearly as bad as some other Caribbean destinations but still enough to make a visit more risky.

Unlike other destinations, rainfall drops a bit in October and then hits a high point of six inches on average in November.

For most other months of the year, the average rainfall is about three inches.

The total number of days it rains each month is 13 in September and October and nearly 15 in November.

Anguilla weather in February, March and June average less than 10 days of rain per month.
Best Time to Go

The best times to go to Anguilla are early spring through July because the risk of rainfall is much lower.

The one exception is May, which has a brief rainy season and averages about four inches.
The worst times to go to Anguilla are September through November.
