Bermuda beach |
This British island that lies 450 miles west of North Carolina is often included in Caribbean travel guides because it shares much in common with the other islands to the south.
It’s a vacation paradise with great beaches, warm summers and plenty of recreational things to do.
Because it lies so far north, temperatures are quite a bit cooler during the winter than most of the Caribbean. But during the fall, it often lies in the path or near the path of tropical storms and hurricanes.
Average Rainfall
Bermuda receives a fairly consistent amount of rainfall each month, according to historical data from the World Weather Organization.Average rainfall ranges from a low of 3.3 inches in May to a high point of 6.4 inches in October.
The hurricane season officially runs from June 1 through Nov. 30 with peak activity taking place in September and October.
Unlike the rest of the Caribbean, Bermuda sees about the same amount of rainfall in September that it does in January, June and August -- a little more than five inches.
Anyone planning a vacation to Bermuda should consider not only the amount of rain that falls each month but also the number of days that it rains.
In Bermuda’s case, the lowest number of rain days is 10 in May and the highest number is 17 in January and December. October comes in third place with 16.
Temperatures
Daytime air temperatures are rarely a problem for anyone visiting Bermuda for its famous golf courses. They are much more of a problem for anyone wanting to visit the famous pink beaches and go for a swim.
Average high temperatures range from a peak of 86 in August to a low point of 68 in February.
More importantly, seawater temperatures drop to 71 or lower from December through April, which makes those months too cool for swimming.
Best Times to Go
Anyone wanting to go to Bermuda for a simple getaway that includes golf or other land-based activities will find that most months of the year except for mid-fall through late winter will probably find decent weather.Vacationers who want to enjoy beaches and other water-based activities should plan on going mainly during the summer months of June through August.
